I. Approved by DGCA, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India for conducting AME course in Categories of Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence:

  • Mechanical Stream : Light Aeroplane (LA), Piston Engine (PE) & Jet Engine (JE).
  • Avionics Stream : Electrical System (ES), Instrument System(IS) & Radio-Navigation System (RN).

II. DURATION OF COURSE : Two and Half years + 6 months On Job Training.

III. ELIGIBILITY FOR THE COURSE:

10+2 pass with minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics & Math or Three years Diploma with minimum 50% marks (Except Diploma in Civil Engineering).

IV. JOB OPPORTUNITIES:

Aircraft Maintenance Engineerins are employed in organisation such as:

  • Schedule Operators: Air India, Indian Airlines,Kingfisher Airlines,Jet Airways,Spice Jet, Go Air etc.
  • Non-Schedule Operators: Deccan Charter Ltd., Jagson Airlines etc.
  • State Government :Aircraft operated by State Governments; such as UP, Punjab, MP Govt. etc.
  • Helicopter’s Fleet: Pawan Hans, United Helicharter, Surya Aviation, Global Vectra Pvt. Ltd. etc.
  • HAL: Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Manufacture & Maintenance of Aircraft).
  • Aircraft Maintenance Organization: Taneja Aerospace & Aviation Ltd. (TAAL), Indamer, Airworks etc.
  • Various Flying Training Institutes and Flying Clubs: More than 40 Flying training institutes and flying Clubs all over India.
  • Foreign Airlines: British Airways, Air France, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, Qantas Air, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines etc.

V. SALARY :

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer gets more than a lakh rupees per month depending on the aircraft & organisation he/she is serving, experience and endorsements on his/her AME licence.

VI. SPECIAL FEATURES:

AME licence issued by DGCA, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. Of India is based on International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) norms, accordingly this licence is valid in all the contracting states of the world. Based on this licence a person can work in any airline and anywhere in the world.

VII. NATURE OF JOB:

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are given responsibility by DGCA, Govt. Of India for safe operation of aircraft. They have to maintain the aircraft by following the rules & regulations and Civil Aviation requirements issued by DGCA, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. Of India. An AME works as Engineer and Manager for the works related to Aircraft Maintenance. He/she issues the certificate for safety of aircraft before it is flown.
